ELE COMPRESSION MACHINE - DATA ACQUISITION PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION
This program is for logging to disk data produced during tests on ELE Compressiopn
Machines.  It is compatible with the following machines: ADR, ADR-Auto and Autotest.

Data is stored in simple text (CSV - comma separated value) format so that it may
easily be read by other programs such as spread sheets.


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The program is designed to run on a PC under Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or 2000.

Your PC display options should be set to 800 x 600 resolution, small fonts.
These Windows settings can be altered by selecting the following window:
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Display - Settings, 
then select Desktop Area 600 x 800 pixels
and Font Size: small fonts.

INSTALLATION
1.44MB Floppy Disks,
Insert Disk 1 into drive A:
Select Start - Run, then type A:\setup.exe into the dialog box.

CD-ROM,
Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive (D: assumed)
Select Start - Run, then type D:\setup.exe into the dialog box.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

There are some support files needed to run the software called the 'Runtime Engine'.
The runtime engine is supplied on two floppy disks or on the CD.  If you have not
previously installed the runtime engine, and you are installing from floppy disks,
the installation program will ask for the Runtime Engine disks to be inserted during
the main installation of the program.  For subsequent updates of the program, this
step should not be necessary.

After installation, the program group box will be left open so that you can see the
new items on your PC.  Close this window when you have seen the new icons.

TROUBLESHOOTING
1. "Error 35 ocurred at unidentified location". If this error message is seen, it 
indicates that the selected COM port (i.e. serial or RS232 connection) is already in
use by another program. The solution is to either select another COM port and connect
the serial cable to suit, or to close any other programs which may be using the selected
port. Note that a serial mouse will use a COM port.

REMOVING THE PROGRAM FROM YOUR PC
The program may be Un-Installed at any time using the Add/Remove Programs option on
the Windows Control Panel.
